Orienting Newbies to a New Way of Thinking

Seattle University's library hired me to run its makerspace. A makerspace is traditionally an amount of square footage allotted to tools and equipment one can use for creative endeavors. As part of the library, the Billodue Makerspace is open to everyone in the Seattle U community which means many walk through the doors with little to no prior knowledge of how to use the equipment or even approach the creative process. To ease them in, I created introductory workshops, trainings and supplementary materials that would engage and explain. Supplements included items like posted checklists, QR codes to our equipment training videos, example pieces and infographics.

A bit from you know who...

Welcome. When it comes to text communications I like to keep it concise, as words are powerful, but often wasted. About me, know this: I put work in to do the hard things; I find inspiration from nature and the human spirit; I think of how to create a humane and sustainable world constantly; aesthetically and taste-wise, I'm partial to corn.

I spend my energy in search of understanding, so I've accumulated a range of skills and experiences. To be honest, it's challenging at times to wrangle my past into a cohesive story for you, the viewer, so this site will likely always be a work in progress. Unlike my projects - many of which have a prompt, a beginning and an ending - I continue to grow and change. I anticipate this patch of digital space will reflect that.
